BREVE HISTORIA DE UN LIBRO. A BRIEF HISTORY OF A BOOK. Jorge Torres Cueco

Este libro surge por la confluencia de un trabajo iniciado hace una década en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, dirigido por Miguel Centellas, junto con la actividad desarrollada por el Grupo de Inves tigación Proyecto Arquitectura de la Universitat Politècnica de València, coordi nado por Jorge Torres, y la participación de Pere Joan Ravetllat de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. En el curso académico 2011-2012 los profesores Miguel Centellas, Pedro García y Juan Pedro Sanz organizaron la asignatura Proyectos II en torno a la vivien da colectiva. Para favorecer el aprendizaje incorporaron en el curso siguiente ejercicios de redibujo de edificios considerados como imprescindibles. Los re sultados de este trabajo fueron presentados en una exposición en la Escuela de la UPCT y dio pie a la publicación Vivienda Colectiva S. XX . Esta actividad continuó e l curso siguiente con dos modificaciones: se optó por con centrar el trabajo en el barrio Hansaviertel y se establecieron unas pautas genera les para unificar los criterios de dibujo. A partir del material elaborado, los alumnos internos del curso 2013-2014, Ángel Bonilla Martínez, Alejandro García Berrocal y Fran Andreo Tudela , retomaron el trabajo, subsanando errores gráficos y mo dificando los planos de algunos edificios. El trabajo qued ó interrumpido ante la ausencia de material fotográfico propio. En 2018 Ángel Bonilla, ya arquitecto, se estableció en Berlín y asumió el reto de aportar todo el material fotográfico. La labor de ultimar el redibujo de los edificios residenciales del barrio Hansa co rrió a cargo de los alumnos internos : Víctor Pérez Sánchez, Álvaro Sánchez Olme do, Miguel Ángel Santos Leira, Pedro José Sánchez Pérez, Tania Pérez Pagán, Juan Antonio Méndez Moreno y Víctor Soler Hurtado, más los ya titulados arquitectos Ángel Bonilla Martínez y Alejandro García Berrocal. La incorporación del grupo Proyecto Arquitectura de la UPV se produjo en 2019 bajo la coordinación de Jorge Torres Cueco y con la aportación de Ricardo Meri de la Maza, como co-director de la Colección ART. El grupo de investigación Proyecto Arquitectura realizó una significativa labor de búsqueda bibliográfica que permiti ó desarrollar la tarea conjunta de investigación. Los textos que acompañan a los edificios de vivienda colectiva fueron redactados por Juan Pedro Sanz y Pedro García (UPCT) y Jorge Torres, Juan Deltell, Clara E. Mejía, Paula Cardells y Elia Bernardos (UPV). Los textos de investigación presentan el contexto en que se hicieron los proyec tos; la génesis de la propuesta y su relación con otros modelos urbanos contem poráneos; la valoración del espacio, el paisaje y la edificación pública y su trans cendencia en publicaciones o en los medios de comunicación y la cinematografía. Este libro muestra el compromiso de ofrecer una documentación completa y actualizada de este conjunto de viviendas herederas de las conquistas de la mo dernidad, y rinde tributo a aquellos que construyeron este fragmento de ciudad para generar un hábitat digno y un espacio profundamente humano. ■

This book arises from the confluence of work begun a decade ago at the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, directed by Miguel Cen tellas, together with the activity developed by the Proyecto Arquitectura Research Group of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, coordinated by Jorge Torres, and the participation of Pere Joan Ravetllat of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. In the 2011-2012 academic year, professors Miguel Centellas, Pedro García and Juan Pedro Sanz organised the subject Projects II around collective housing. In order to promote learning, in the following academic year they incorporat ed exercises in the redrawing of buildings considered essential. The results of this work were presented in an exhibition at the UPCT School and gave rise to the publication Vivienda Colectiva S. XX. This activity continued the following year with two modifications: it was de cided to concentrate the work on the Hansaviertel district and general guide lines were established to unify the drawing criteria. On the basis of the ma terial produced, the boarding students of the 2013-2014 academic year, Ángel Bonilla Martínez, Alejandro García Berrocal and Fran Andreo Tudela, took up the work again, correcting graphic errors and modifying the plans of some buildings. The work was interrupted due to the absence of their own photo graphic material. In 2018 Ángel Bonilla, now an architect, settled in Berlin and took on the challenge of providing all the photographic material. The work of finalising the redrawing of the residential buildings in the Hansa district was carried out by the student interns: Víctor Pérez Sánchez, Álvaro Sán chez Olmedo, Miguel Ángel Santos Leira, Pedro José Sánchez Pérez, Tania Pérez Pagán, Juan Antonio Méndez Moreno and Víctor Soler Hurtado, plus the already qualified architects Ángel Bonilla Martínez and Alejandro García Berrocal. The incorporation of the Proyecto Arquitectura group of the UPV took place in 2019 under the coordination of Jorge Torres Cueco and with the contribution of Ricardo Meri de la Maza, as co-director of the ART Collection. The Proyec to Arquitectura research group carried out a significant bibliographic survey that enabled the joint research work to be carried out. The texts accompanying the collective housing buildings were written by Juan Pedro Sanz and Pedro García (UPCT) and Jorge Torres, Juan Deltell, Clara E. Mejía, Paula Cardells and Elia Bernardos (UPV). The research texts present the context in which the projects were made; the genesis of the proposal and its relationship with other contemporary urban models; the valuation of the space, the landscape and the public building and its transcendence in publications or in the media and cinematography. This book shows the commitment to offer a complete and updated documen tation of this group of dwellings, heirs to the conquests of modernity, and pays tribute to those who built this fragment of the city to generate a dignified habitat and a profoundly human space. ■
